Pinot Noir 2006
The 2006 season was noted for hard spring frosts, a warm summer and dry autumn. The winemaker used traditional methods and careful selection of yeasts to express the character of the hand picked basket pressed fruit. The resulting dark, intensely coloured pinot has a complex nose of violets, chocolate, plum, oak and cherries. It is well structured, has a long finish and is wonderful with venison and lamb. This is a wine to be enjoyed with food.

Pinot Noir 2009
Our Martinborough vineyard, with its range of Dijon clones, sits on heavy silts over gravel. The 2009 vintage experienced mild spring frosts, good flowering, warm autumn days and cool nights resulting in ripe succulent fruit. No irrigation is used on our estate vineyard. This results in bunches of small intensely flavoured berries which were handpicked and carefully macerated followed by aging for ten months in French barriques.
2009 was a good vintage for Martinborough. We were able to chill the grapes after destemming down to around 10 degrees and soak for a couple of days longer than previously. The same methods were used following this with selected yeasts for the ferments, good control of the ferment temperatures and gentle pressing of the must.
Our winemaker, James Walker, has produced a beautifully integrated, well structured, mouth filling wine, rich in dark fruits with hints of chocolate and violets. This is a big style wine with savoury notes typical of Brodie Estate and the wines of the Martinborough region.
Excellent for drinking now or for cellaring for 3 to 8 years
